Of the three black wires only one of them is hot. My limited understanding tells me that you are supposed to use one or the other the push in or the screw.

3 black wires single pole light switch. I attached one wire to the top side screw on the new switch and the other two to the other side screw. The new switch has a different way to attach. While a single black wire is pigtailed and connected to the bottom screw non green screw. Ive been installing smart light switches throughout the house and have had no issues. Another black is in a loop around bottom screw and 3rd screw is in hole next to bottom screw. I have single pole light switch with 3 black wires.
The last switch i came to was for an outside light. I am replacing my single pole light switch and noticed when i removed the old switch that there are three black wires coming from the box. Not sure if i can get help with this but wanted to present my issue. Ran into a unique light switch this evening where one of. Ask question asked 2 years 3 months ago. One on each of the two screws not counting the third screw for grounding which has nothing on it and one in a push in in the back. There are groves on a plate under the screws. Im not sure how to reattach. One black wire attached to top screw. When i removed the switch plate there were 3 black wires no white or ground.
Single pole light switch 3 black wires. Viewed 19k times 2. All the white wires are capped together and the same is for the ground wires. Two black wires are going directly into the quick connects. If it helps the this light switch turns on two seperate ceiling lights in the bedroom. The old switch is a single pole but it has three black wires attached to it.
I was not prepared for this. When opening the switch i found 3 unmarked black wires as shown here.
