If you have a specific light or socket wired to one light switch then that light will have end of run wiring. Here a single pole switch controls the power to a light fixture.

End line switch wiring. The source hot wire is connected to a switch terminal and the other terminal is connected to the black cable wire. Video of the day. Turn the screws clockwise to tighten them against the wires. Wrap the white wire marked with black electrical tape around the bottom right brass screw on the switch. Connect the last switch in the usual manner looping the wire around the screw in a clockwise direction. So an end of run switch is the last component in the wiring of a circuit and in effect the wire feeding the switch is coming from the light fixture and not the other way around.
Wrap the bare ground wire around the ground screw on the single pole switch. The neutral wire from the source is spliced to the white cable wire and continues on to the light. As in the last example we are working here at the end of the circuit. Instead of running a separate pigtail from the hot wire to each switch just leave the hot wire extra long. The white wire has been taped with blue electrical tape to show that it is not a neutral conductor but a traveler. The red wire is the other traveler.
You may have an appliance such as a washing machine attached to a socket. Connect one end of the 6 inch wire to the top terminal of the first switch. To connect the switches simply score the wire with your wire stripper and push the insulation to expose about 34 in. Here the white wire to the switch is marked black to indicate that it is hot. There is no switch because you use the onoff switch on the machine. Only one cable enters the switch box coming from the fixture.
The source is at the switch and 2 wire cable runs from there to the light. Not every socket will be end of run or attached to a switch. End line switches if power goes to the fixture first and then to the switch you have end line wiring. The source of the the circuit in our diagram is coming up from the bottom. Wrap the black wire in the switch box around the top right brass screw on the single pole light switch. The white wire is attached directly to the white wire on the light while the hot black wire is attached to the white wire painted or marked black with electrical tape coming from the switch.
Step 1 when you hear the term end of run it means that is where the circuit ends. Twist the other end together with the black wire from the incoming circuit cable and the black wire from the cable going. The black hot wire in the electrical box above is connected at the other end to the black line wire and gets connected to the black or red screw on the 3 way switch.
