Stainless steel headers can also be quite shiny when theyre polished but they do discolor to a hot metal shade of tawny gold fading to cobalt blue around the hottest areas. I say do it once and do it right personally i will be going with stainless i like the bassani set up.

Chrome vs ceramic headers. Ceramic is better for sure helps keep the heat in the headers which helps scavange exhaust a bit better plus the rust factor although it would take years for the chrome ones to rust out. Ceramic headers can maintain their out of the box chrome like appearance for many years and the smooth surface makes them easy to clean. Also since the heat is staying inside the headers the exhaust gases will be hotter and will flow more remember as air cools it becomes more dense. My lce ceramic header keeps down the heat pretty well. I wouldnt worry too much about heat in your engine bay from a header. Just ask before you buy.
The ceramic actually blocks alot of the heat if they are coated inside and out. If the headers you choose are coated inside and out even better not sure which companies only coat the outside. Overall the ceramic coating just holds up alot better over time looks better imho and dissipates heat much quicker than chrome its also called a thermal barrier btw.
